Due to a project suggested by a friend of mine I have realized a couple of tool for the modification of the files of the Ys series of japanese RPG games developed by Falcom http://www.falcom.co.jp

The target of the project is allowing people to create translation of the games so I hope these two tools can be useful.

For lazy people I have realized a video which demonstrates the usage of the tools and a real-time modification of the menu and the first dialog of the game:

Hi there,

I'm very interested in your toolkit. Does it work with the vista version too? Because I only own the (newest) vista-compatible version (but I run it under XP).

Just btw, would it somehow be possible to create a voice patch, which copies the PS2 Napishtim japanese voices into the PC version?

Edit: Okay, I got it to work with the vista version. The naming of the files is different, it seems like the resources formerly stored in the "data_1101.na" are now stored in the "data.na"-file.
But now a new question rises: What about the word wrapping? Could this maybe be caught programmatically?

about the voices, if these PS2 files have the same format of the PC ones naturally yes. but consider that except for the file format of the NA/NI/Z/XSO archives/files I don't know much about the games and the other stuff.

one thing that I forgot to specify but is probably enough obvious: the configuration file created with the -n option is necessary and the following should be the first things to do for creating it completely because often data_1101.na contains new files not indexed in data.na:

ysext -l -n 2.txt c:\ysf_win\release\data_1101.na none
type 1.txt 2.txt > conf.txt


what is exactly the "word wrap" thing about you refer?
and moreover where? in the output of the program or in some specific extracted files?
