I have some questions about gamespy protocols, the question is not about how to query or how to merge and parse the packets. No i ithink it's really simple compared to this. My question is how are the protocol named. E.g. Unreal Tourmnement + 2003 + 2003, all the Medal of Honor, F.E.A.R., America's Army and Soldier of Fortune is one Protocol type. Another one seems to be Unreal Tournament 3, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl, Crysis and Crysis Wars. The i noticed another one S.T.A.K.E.R.: Clear Sky, Armed Assault 1 and 2. A special position is then America's Army 3. I probably forgot a lot of games, but for all these i listed above, i allready did the analyse, so i cannot talk about other. Maybe gamespy does have names for these different kind of protocols, can you help me out?

uhmmm I guess I have not understood completely about what you refer.

exist 3 types of Gamespy query protocols (someone wrongly talks about 4 without a valid reason):
1) \status\
2) fe fd...
3) fe fd... plus challenge-response id (I guess for avoiding reflected flooding with spoofed packets)

and each game which wants to implement one of these protocols do it by itself while the others (like AA3) use their own custom protocol.
but doesn't exist a rule, nowadays the protocol 2 is the most used and the 3 is used in some (big) games
