Hi,
I've a problem with the program.. On like 75% of the servers it doesn't work, And I don't believe so much people have the fix for it... Even on some servers where I know that download is enabled it doesn't work. I even asked the server admin where he putted his server config... I get the following error "Error: cl_parseservermessage: Illegible server message 69". I hope someone can help me.

i don't know about the error message, but in aliens vs predator 2, 100% of servers had a patch against any kind of exploits that Luigi wrote, because so many ppl was using them to crash and mess up servers, so it is very possible, but Luigi has to give you answer about the error message.

It isn't 100% patched because it works on some servers...

I hate it.

Anyways,
You can re-name a .cfg while editing your server's mod -> server or config . cfg will not work.
Some servers use wwwdownload, so you cant use it on them either.

Why are you flaming. I already said I knew that download was on and I knew in witch folder it was and I forgot to mention that I knew what the .cfg's name was...

I had 2 dedicated servers myself and I know how to set up a server on my own home hosted machine... I also know how to mod cod4 i'm not stupid, let that be clear.

I don't remember the cl_parseservermessage error applied to cod4 (I refer ever to the latest versions of the games).
anyway remember that for any test with q3dirtrav on cod4 is necessary forfopen:

I'm using forfopen. I'm also playing on version 1.7 (the newest) but yet it only seem to work on some servers.

Ban that fag omg.

I also got that error on my own server.
But that is becuase I don't have a server.cfg on my server. Then you get that error.

i did some research, and ran few variants of protection on my server.
i always get the cl_parseservermessage: Illegible server message 69 when there is a main/config.cfg on WWW downlaod server, and i have it enabled, or sometimes, patcing just didnt work (probably...)
now, sometimes i get delayed reconnects, and i cant practically do anything except acces the console and reconnect (promod even says to reconnect to server)
on patched server, i succesfully execute download main/cinfig.cfg, but the server says that impure client was found, or something like that, i cant really remember

also, i asked my friend to let me test on his server too, and he didnt patch anything, or have any protections. i simply got filtered out for manual downlaod command, which is probably server's firewall configured to filter things like that

EDIT: i didnt use luigis foropen, i used mine which would just hold the file open for 3 seconds and close it, and then rename, so i dont get log overwrites every time i test the bug

I haven't been on this forum for a long time, but for anyone else having this problem, make sure you have /cl_wwwdownload 0 because if you have it set to 1 on cod4 it tries to download the file from the redirect server.
