hi there aluigi,
I have a problem with patching our sof2ded!
We run a sof2 server on linux (SOF2MP V1.02a linux-i386 Sep 24 2002) Rocmod2.1c
I have download the lamepatcher. I have download the q3infofix_linux.lpatch
I did everything you explain in the video that is on this site. When i have to select the file (sof2ded) than i cant, because the sof2ded is not a .exe file. So i manaly pick the sof2ded and than the patcher says "there are no bytes to change in the file"
What am i doing wrong here?
I have tested our server first with sof2boom.exe and the server was not vunurable.(q3infoboom.exe -q getstatus xx.xxx.xxx.xx 20100 Than i tested it for real with q3infoboom.exe -q getstatus -f 100 xx.xxx.xxx.xx 20100. And the server crashed?
I have tested this for a few times and everytime i got the same results?
Can you help me ..
Thanks John

in any case you have the problem of rocmod that "recreates" the bug even if you fix it, so it's completely useless to use q3infofix_linux.
indeed I guess the patcher says that there are no bytes to fix because you executable was already fixed but your server is still vulnerable because runs rocmod. this rocmod's "bad joke" was reported some weeks ago by some users

First of all thanks for the fast reply,
In other words: rocmod sucks?
I see that other rocmod server dont crash with q3infoboom on linux so there must be a fix for it somewhere?
Do you think this mod can be patched on windows? if so i will set the sof2 servers on windows.
what i forgot to say is that we run BOTs on our server, maby there is a problem? When you put bots on a rocmod server you have to make a chance in the qvm file!
What mod do you think is the best to run and patch on linux?
Xsmod cubosmod OSP Noble (backdoor, so i rather not use this one) hereticmod
Thanks,
john

unfortunately I can't help because this is not my field (translated: I have never played or administered sof2 in my life and I don't know all these mods), anyway rocmod MUST be avoided except if you are a programmer and want to rewrite it from scratch using its source code.
