Well, I read the fake player DoS for COD4, but i'm not exactly sure that's exactly what im looking for. At first I thought I hit the gold mine when I saw that, but my cousin said it looks and sounds like the only purpose for that was to lock the server so no one can join.

What i'm looking for is something that can help me populate my server, still allowing people to join. If anyone has played Counter-Strike, I guess you can say it's like bots. Once someone joins, it'll kick a bot, and it'll continue.

I know this is possible for COD5, not bots that actually play, but it'll show "connecting" which will take up 1 game slot, per "connecting". Then when people join, some of those "connecting" will go away. From what I saw, they actually timed out when someone joined, but still leaving about 4 empty slots so people can still be, "Oh! There's only a couple spots left" instead of, of course, showing it a full server. I hope this makes sense to everyone.

those are mods you are looking for, specifically made for the game. in CSS i have only seen bots that play too and leave when theres x many ppl (not all leave). always keeping 1 slot open for players.

other way is to edit your server.exe and add them into code. so whenever you boot up server, it will show players in it and they dont really interfere with joiners, so they wont take a slot either.
It's been discussed here, but can't bother to search it. Luigi even showed in some topic how to do it, well more or less. Luigi prolly knows which topic im talking about.

Yeah, I read about the one for the BF series. I was told it wouldn't work with CoD.

ofcourse not, because it would be .exe from a different game server. you have to edit cod5 server.exe to show them. I guess its lil something for Luigi :)

I actually saw that post. Seems like its always those games that people want to populate servers. I wasn't sure if it worked with COD5

Yes spike! exactly it! Apparently all [-Q-] servers had that for all their servers and they were always populated with actual people within a matter of minutes.

Seemed to work well but they always did it or relied on it. I only want it to get my server going lol

Also, from what SomaFM said, his post is only meant to lock out servers. The way the one in the image works, x number joins, x "connecting" times out.

Yeah I went over to their forums and asked how to do it. They said they don't share populating methods. :( I have tried q3fill but have not succeded.

Yeah :\ I asked Qosis and he didn't even bother to respond back, then read in his forums that he wasn't giving out how to do it. I still need to figure out how to actually do this :P

they sound like they got it from somebody and now playing "tough" guys by not sharing ..etc. so lame.
I still suggest to edit server.exe instead of messing with those fake player tools. then it would simply show 10 players all the time and if somebody joins, then it would be 11.

NOTE - usually those fake players lag server too, but modifying server.exe will not cause any lag at all, because they not really players.

I agree its a bit lame, but it is his decision :\ the fake players actually didnt lag up the server at all because they weren't actual players either ;)

and same to you, spike. been trying to figure this out for a few weeks now and its not happening :|

Yea that's pretty lame they won't share their method. I enjoyed the Q clan's TF2 servers when I used to play that game a while ago. Good pings, and they were one of the first servers I found that allowed instant respawn time (which involved editing the map's .bsp file using a third party tool).

I mentioned that I was going to try out CoD5 for the Fake Players DoS bug, but after downloading it I ran into too many issues. It installed, patched, but wouldn't let me go 'online' and access the server list. Then when I tried to access certain features in the menu, the game would crash to desktop. I got frustrated and uninstalled it. And I probably wont be purchasing it, so... sorry if anyone was interested in that.

Hope you get what you need soon though!

after some research i found out that these guys do it but they charge money for it. not cool, but at least we found out how it's done:
