I guess this one is for Luigi mostly :)
I ran into the problem i already discussed with you Luigi (in msn). the problem about the network adapters. i was trying to force my server to run on hamachi adapter.
now i ran into it again. im trying to get my firefox to use my wireless adapter only, instead of lan and/or hamachi. so my firefox would use wireless when its connected. i tought about proxy, but kind a blah.
SomaFM suggested this to me:

Quote:
you can try to set up a local proxy server on your machine. That proxy server will need to have the ability to bind itself to a network card of your choosing (in your case, the wireless card).

Luigi any ideas where to get such proxy ? or maybe you can write a small proxy that can do this.

anyways wht is this ?! am i really the only one who wants to use wireless for one things and lan for others ?!?!?! i mean CMON there must be companys who has like 100 or more network adapters in one machine...and im sure they need to manage them somehow. there's not even a one thing in google about it..just some general bullshit, but not how to make one application use wireless and other to use LAN (or maybe i didnt search in right place)

EDIT: for example limewire has option tht allows you to choose what adapter to use (not really useful, but just saying..)

the only real solution naturally is like the one of limewire, an option which allow the selecting of the specific adapter (for example through the binding of its specific IP address instead of INADDR_ANY as made by default).

the proxy idea is the only alternative which comes in my mind.
For example if you try proxymini (http://aluigi.org/mytoolz.htm#proxymini) you can launch it with the following parameters:

proxymini -l 192.168.0.2

where 192.168.0.2 is the example IP of your wireless card, so you need only to set that IP address and the port 8123 in the SOCKS/proxy configuration of Firefox

cant test it right now cuz i lost the wireless lol.
is there any way to change firefox binding settings ? like this part you referred to ''INADDR_ANY'' ?
think that proxy is better, gonna try as soon as network is back up.

doesn't seem to exist ways to do it natively in Firefox (for example through an option in about:config) BUT I have found an interesting tool to try:

http://www.r1ch.net/stuff/forcebindip/

it's created by the same person who has worked a lot on the security of the quake2 and quake3 engine (for example the q3unban bug)

since i kind a screwed up my wireless antenna (just getting shitty signals and i tried to make it better, but still cant connect) i cant test with it, only can test with hamachi adapter.
but this tool seems very intresting. somehow you always find the places i cant find lol. gonna give it a try on hamachi adapter :)

seem to be working just fine :)
and good thing is that it doesnt change anything in application ! what i mean is .. it runs application for you. so if you wanna chagne it back, you simply close application and run it whereever it is (from your shortcut or directly from app.exe)
also if firefox is already open it has no effect. it opens another firefox, but without any binding. so you have to close fox first and then run it thru forcebindip.
still cant connect into wireless so i cant test there (tested on hamachi adapater).

its lil bit out of topic, but is there anything that can connect me into network with bad signal ? i can see the damn network (signal is 2 out of 5), but it wont connect.

probably it doesn't connect because the signal is really too bad

got wireless now, but forcebindip aint working on it :S
it simply doesn't bind or something like that. i have no clue why. wireless works fine .. i disabled LAN and it worked just fine, but when i use bind it doesnt make browser go thru it. it simply doesnt load.

i do need to bind it on internal ip right ? tried to bind to ''default gateway'', but then somehow it still started using my LAN not wireless. no clue whts going on. when LAN was disabled and i used :
forcebinip 'wireless ip' program.exe
it worked, but when LAN is enabled...nothing.

ok now it really starts to piss me off.
proxymini doesnt work either ! wtf is wrong ???

i tried everything from start...nice and easy and doesnt work !
here's what proxymini sees:

Quote:
Options:
-l IP local interface to bind (default any), list of local IP availables:
5.214.202.111 192.168.1.65 10.0.0.111 127.0.0.1

10.0.0.111 is my wireless internal ip !
so i did:
proxymini -l 10.0.0.111
it said:

Quote:
- bind 10.0.0.111:8123
- ready for HTTP, HTTP CONNECT, SOCKS4 and SOCKS5 (both TCP and UDP)

now i set proxy in the firefox using proxysel:
add new
10.0.0.111 port 8123
now when i connect with this proxy selected and enabled..it just uses my LAN ! proxysel works FINE...so it means that proxymini didnt bind correctly.

when i tried forcebindip then firefox simply has no connection at all. I also tried to bind network adapter instead of ip using forcebindip and same shit. i kept the wireless status window open at all times and it didnt recieved any data at all. so WTF is this ??? wireless even has 5.5Mbps speed now.

UPDATE:
i think i found the cause.
somehow my computer counts wireless and LAN as one. i tried to block LAN 192.168.1.66 (my pc) in firewall, but it showed that it blocked wireless 10.0.0.111 LOL. guess thts y those tools have no effect.

was a problem of proxymini, in short the listening socket was bound correctly but not the outgoing one.
download the new version and use -L IP for deciding the outgoing interface (-l is no longer needed in your case).
thanx
