Hello to all!

I want to use the peerchat_irc tool to connect to my favourite game's lobby.
There I have several questions. first my Antivir (Avira) is reporting a Backdoor agent in the exe. Probably a false alarm I hope.

Then how do I do it? Consider me a newb in that things. The game in question is "Sacrifice" and it has only a hidden lobby with limited functionality.

If anyone of you has any tips or hints I'd be a very happy bunny.

Thanks in advance.

there is an entire thread about how much ridiculous the antiviruses are:

/antiviruse ... -t273.html

Naturally you have the source code of the tool so you can audit and recompile it how much times you want.
I hope you have downloaded the package from my websites (those listed in my main page) otherwise I have no control over its content.

Sacrifice was one of the first games to implement the Gamespy peerchat and if I'm not in error it still uses the old unencrypted method, in short its access to the chat server is very very limited.

peerchat_irc is just an encrypter/decrypter so you can use any IRC client (like Mirc or Xchat) for having chat access to the peerchat server and all its channels.
Then it has also other advanced functions for making it more similar to a certain client (GSA or a game) or to enable the usage of an account.
What is not clear from your post is what you want to do, I mean technically if you want to join the peerchat server with Xchat or want to host an IRC server to use as chat of Sacrifice or what?

Thanks for the fast reply.

Yea I thought as much that the Antivir alert was crap. But better ask.

Anyways I CAN connect to the channel.. thats not the prob.. (as I read my first post I saw that i totally missed my point)

Some stupid GSA admin has evoked a mute for irc clients in that channel (we had several probs before with spamming). Is there any way to circumvent that mute?

a better GSA compatibility can be made using the following options:

peerchat_irc -i ID -L 1 PASSWORD UNIQUENICK

usage example:

peerchat_irc -i 1234 -L 1 mypassword myuniquenick@aluigi@autistici.org

the -i option should be enough and can be a fake number.
naturally with the -L option and your real ID is reached the best compatibility since will be performed a full login on the server and is more difficult to catch non-gsa clients.

anyway consider that I don't use this tool (I have no interest in peerchat) so who uses it probably knows more tricks.

Thank you again.. it works.

Just one more question: I'd like to fire up Sacrifice without stopping the peerchat_irc.exe, which I can't right now because the tool intereferes also with Sacrifice. I think the proper authentication should work. Is there any way to find out the gamekey for Sacrifice? Sorry if that all sounds mundane but I never dabbled with such things before GSA pulled their freakshow.

what do you mean with "interfere"?
peerchat_irc works as a secondary client and the peerchat server doesn't have a "per-IP" filter.

All the gamekeys of any known game are listed here:

Sacrifice cannot connect to the GS server anymore if peerchat_irc is running.

I tried with the proper gamekey and cd-key , not working.

you are a sacrifice player right?
I have seen that there is that problem of "insufficient page" and I have corrected it, do you think it's useful to release a patch for this problem?
Anyway in the latest patch of the game is enough to modify the byte at offset 0xA826 from 0x73 to 0xeb

No. I only entered the gamekey and my cd-key. Also some randum numbers under -i. And under -L option my GSA account. I have no idea what Sacrifice uses to challenge the server.

About the patch. I never experienced that prob but some others did. If you kindly release a patch we would post it on our site.

edit: forget the question about the latest version, there is already a good pattern in the executable so I will release the patch soon (probably will work on older versions too)
