 Post subject: JKA invisible model bug

Today i was on a jka server, and i saw a player that had a model with no feet, it was a standard model, alora , but its feet were invisible, i wasnt the only one that didnt see his feet.
So , my question, is it a bug of some kind?, like changing your model in a special way or something. But the most important question is , can it be exploited in some way so your entiere body would be invisible?

ok, as said previously, as far as I know clients can change only the color of the models.
the transparent color is usually caused by the alpha color but I'm not sure if this particular color can be applied to all the model

so , there is a transparent color that can be aplied on a part of the model?, how does that color look like?

mine was only an hypotesis so I don't have details about setting alpha colors on a model.
maybe this color can be specified directly from the console (model color or something similar)

yes , you can change the rgb from the console, but , do you know the rgb valus for transparent?
LE: i figured out what alpha chanel is, as far as i know you cant change the alpha color in a traditonal way

didnt see this post before .. only saw it in other topic so i sent u pm about it, but its prolly a hack where you can change your model into anything u want.
model you saw was just some hidden or invalid model.

i did that in avp2. models without head, or without hands/legs or half-invisible models..etc. i was even able to change into a grenade or some small bug (tht was never used in game).

well oviously NO if its a hack, i haven't hacked this game so i really don't know. i just said what i did in avp2 and it was exactly what u described.

ill put it that way...when you click on some model then some value on some address changes ... lets say from 20 to 23 (model 1 to model 2).
there like 100-200 models.
but you can only choose 100 in game (others are not in list)
so with that ''hack'' you can simply change the value on address to like 123 and freeze it, so when you change model then it still turns into 123 which is some invalid model (something you CANT choose in list).
NOTE - it was just an example !

This is how it worked in avp2 anyways and it isnt so different. I know that there is possible to make a fly hack...so im guessing model hacks and other stuff is possible too.

hmm I dont think here is the place I must post this but... :p
1.Can be downloaded file (with Quake 3 engine directory traversal PoC 0.2.2) from JKA server which sv_allowdownload it isn't set to 1 :(becouse now all servers are off their "sv_allowdownload"):
2.about Q3unban ugh.. were I must extract (q3unban_sudp.dll) so as to be used with the DOS when I need it ofc :P ??

1. as far as I know don't exist other ways to have access to the remote files available on the server, so if sv_allowdownload is disabled or the server is patched (for example using my q3dirtravfix patch) you can't download files.

2. you can create a folder in c: (or anywhere you want) and placing q3unban_sudp.dll and sudppipe.exe there. then follows the steps showed by the video, for example:
sudppipe -l q3unban_sudp.dll IP PORT 20000
and then from the console of your game type: connect 127.0.0.1:20000

2. I downloaded 1 file called q3unban_sudp.zip and there have only 3 files
- q3unban_sudp.c
- q3huff.h
- q3unban_sudp.dll

So can you give me post that explain ''how to crash JA server'' with "q3dirtavfix" or with another tools, bocouse I become very mad with that freee BAN >.<

lol. as far as i know .. Luigi's tools will crash server when it says ''server is vulnerable'' so if it says tht then server is already crashed. am i right Luigi ?

yeah, my old tools (now I no longer implement this function) after having sent the malformed data/packet then performs another ping (like the first one which shows the server's informations when you launch it) and if no reply is received for 3 times is showed the "server IS vulnerable" messager, otherwise the other "doesn't seem vulnerable" one.
