exist at least 2 ways for performing the "country control":
- geo localization (a local database contains the country associated to each range of IPs)
- IP reverse lookup and checking of the country in the domain (totally useless because exist also non-national TLDs as org and com... in reality I guess that nobody uses this lame method)

so the only way to change the own IP address on a TCP connection is the passing through another host which has an IP within the needed range, so a proxy

deve do you have any friends in UK ? it is best when you let one of your friends host a proxy for you using Luigi's proxymini. and to make it safe from public usage, i suggest using Hamachi.
That way it is nearly as fast as no proxy.

otherwise theres lots of proxy servers out there, just google. most of them are not anonymous, but if you just want to visit the site then it doesn't matter. I mean proxy's that record stuff in case somebody does something illegal thru them, those proxys are usually quite fast (ping 100-200, no more)

go on google and search for proxies country.

another idea is using the specific Tor exit nodes, but I have not verified it

there might be, im not sure.
you can use firefox's plugin "user agent switcher" and make it appear as "googlebot". most sites allow googlebot to browse it, no matter what country's ip it uses. for example some forums that cannot be read without registering, still can be read when you appear as googlebot.
or maybe some other search engine would do too.

and certainly i did not mean the ones you have to pay for.

Luigi, how is it possible to use specific proxy in TOR ?

maybe it can work if you use http://translate.google.co.uk but depends ever by the real location of the servers which perform the http request

thanks to both of you :)
i kind a forgot this thing, but deve reminded it and Luigi found a nice guide. it is way better than random btw. if you find good servers, then you can only use them. some TOR servers are very fast.

can TOR server be used as a normal proxy ? what if i directly connect into one of them using "proxysel" addon or something ?

you can use TOR like a normal proxy and they good fast servers. you dont need the proxysel addon for mozilla it just has allready in mozilla a button for activate and deactivate the TOR. you can switch to other server with one click.

nice try hehe, but i know all about proxysel and the tor button, what im talking about is to connect to SPECIFIC server, like you can do with the TOR config file. so i could list them up in my proxysel and could connect to them any time without running vidalia < that was my specific question.

my goal is not to use tor in firefox, my goal is to use a specific server without running tor.

EDIT
is there a way to use only specific servers ? TOR routes you thru 3 nodes in total to provide extra anonymity, but how can you make it use only certain nodes. so for example it would only use 3 fast servers.

I dont no if that whould be the same thing but I used before a software called proxyswitcher http://www.proxyswitcher.com/ and there in the soft you can put your proxys any you like in randoms folder and it randomize for you when some goes slow takes the other..

you totally missed the point, i do not need to manage proxys. i asked if its possible to use TOR's proxyservers outside of TOR. TOR goes thru 3 proxys at a time, making it extremely hard (impossible, cuz 90% proxy servers never keep any logs) to trace, but i want to connect only thru ONE server at a time, but TOR won't allow that. so i was looking for a way to use TOR's servers outside of TOR, using proxysel for example to DIRECTLY connect into TOR's server.

as you mentioned yourself, most proxys available in internet are slow or dies after few days, but TOR's servers are better.

indeed, thats why its interesting, Luigi, no ideas at all ?
In theory they should work, but again TOR may have some kind of a check that verifies that you are using TOR. OR..Luigi maybe you can check it and write a small prgoram that emulates TOR, so you could connect only into 1 of the TOR servers on your choice.
