I gave a quick look at that file but didn't notice an easy scheme to work on for a "speedy" quickbms script.

no because this is stuff for who has already worked on the NFS series. as you can see with the hex editor it contains various JDLZ and HUFF chunks that existed even in Carbon and so there is for sure already a tool that handles them and that can be updated by its author.
